Minimum hardware req. for 25...50 channel G.729/GSM?

Hi,

I’m currently looking at the hardware requirements for doing transcoding from G.729 and GSM to G.726/G.711 for a medium business size. Let’s say 250…500 users, oversubscription 1:10, resulting in 25…50 (50…100 in/out) simultaneous channels.

What is the minimum hardware requirement for such a box? I could not find any information regarding this, only max. possible channels with big differences in opinions and results. Is this possible with Asterisk or is it for this sizing better to go straight to a hardware DSP MGW solution?

Ok…seems this is out of limits for a software only box.
