Maxsilence should be less than minsecs or you may get empty

minsecs=1 ; hangups are not recorded
maxsecs=300 ; to prevent dead air, people talking too long
maxsilence=30 ; to prevent dead air

Please correct me if I’m mistaken, but the error message seems illogical.

Premises

  • If I were to decrease the maxsilence to less than 1, messages would get deleted at a rate of near 1/1
  • If I were to increase the maxsec to more than 30, most short valid messages would get deleted
  • If I omit minsecs entirely, you get recorded hangups

Conclusion

It seems to be asking me to trade one undesirable trait for less desirable ones.

Anyone have any ideas?

Hi We have

silence and min message length set to 3 and max lemgth set to 300 and that works flawlessly

Interesting, but I wonder how many messages had a 3 second pause and then were deleted? The user never being aware…

Someone perhaps waiting 3 seconds to gather their words, then continuing only to have the message flagged an eliminated unknown to anyone.
