Make menuselect return error

Hi.
First time trying using Asterisk.
VM Ware. Latest Ubuntu.
Trying with different versions Asterisk, but same error all time.
make: *** No rule to make target ‘.cleancount’, needed by ‘.lastclean’. Stop.
In Makefile.rules is nothing about cleancount…

Can somebody help me? )

I’ll leave someone else to comment on this error message, but if you are using
Ubuntu, why not install Asterisk as a package?

Antony.

I conclude that there are two ways of constructing a software design: One way
is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the
other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious
deficiencies.

How did you download Asterisk? Was it successful and complete? What version?

Most of the Debian flavour Asterisk packages are versions no longer supported by the Asterisk project. Will Ubuntu provide support?

Just do like in manual…

Yep. No errors.
Trying 20, 18, last try was on 21 version.

I know that the Debian project lags some way behind current versions (of
several applications), but Ubuntu makes a point (not only for Asterisk) of
keeping more current and releasing more frequently.

Ubuntu 23.10 has Asterisk 1.20.4 and Ubuntu 24.04 has Asterisk 1.20.6

Even Ubuntu 22.04 has Asterisk 1.18.10, which I believe is not yet quite out
of support.

OK. It is just that most people reporting problems with non final Asterisk 16 versions are using Debian family packages.

Mb somebody can give me link to actual manual?
