Logging into the phone?

Hi,

I’m currently learning with a Asterisk system I’m playing around with, and have Cisco 7940 phones running SIP and Firmware 8.2.

I have the phone working (Well I can dial voicemail and pick up the voicemail) All my other old 7940’s are in another office I cant’ get to at the moment. But here’s my probably silly question.

We used to run Cisco Call Manager, whereby you’d log into the phone. I can’t figure out how to do that now, so I’m hardcoding the user and password into the .cnf file. How do I not have to hardcode it? If that makes sense?

I have tons of other questions but I am reading the manual and help so getting there slowly. Oh, and I’m using AsteriskNow1.4 Beta GUI version.
