If I keep Verizon, do I still need to get a VOIP provider?

I’m planning my Asterisk set up right now and want to keep my Verizon line. So if I keep my Verizon line, do I still need to sign up with a VOIP provider to terminate outgoing calls to PSTN lines? Or do outgoing calls go through Asterisk and then back to Verizon?

Thanks for the help.

You don’t have to sign up another provider.

So just to make sure I understand this: By keeping my Verizon line my incoming calls come from Verizon and my outgoing calls will go back to Verizon, correct? But if I want to go this route, I need an adapter to convert the signal from analog to digital?

That is correct.
