How to make our Laptops to listen for VOIP calls from Internet?

I want to create the VoIP URI myself itself by making my laptop to listen for incoming VoIP calls from the internet. possible?

I know it’s Extremely Hard. Let’s see at least how hard it is!

P.S:
Once I do it suppose, I will forward my existing mobile number to that URI. That’s my plan!

Can you specify exactly what you want to accomplish?

You can ‘listen’ using:

  1. tcpdump
  2. wireshark
  3. a SIP client like linphone

Do you mean ‘port my mobile number to a SIP provider’ or ‘call my laptop from my mobile?’

Getting a SIP Trunk in India is very costly as far as I searched so far. (Minimum 30 channels to buy)
That’s why thinking why can’t we change our laptop itself an VOIP URI
Not porting but forwarding or Diverting… My Mobile Operator is Airtel and I am from India

I think I need an SBC (Session Border Controller). Am I right? Please suggest me a one which is compatible with Airtel in India. I just want to create only one channel.

Honestly, you seem to be doing so much at once it feels like you are all over the place. Maybe it’s lost in translation.

For your Airtel SIM, you can buy a GSM SIP Gateway that can serve as a trunk for whatever it is you are doing. GoIP makes 2/4/8 SIM ones

Chosen the below:
SIM900A GSM GPRS Module with RS232 Interface and SMA Antenna
