How to configure asterisk to work in a-law

can anyone pls tell me how to configure asterisk to work it in a-law…

This is the wrong forum for support questions.

The answer depends on:

  • which channel drivers you are using (although in all cases it should be trivially obvious by examination of the sample configuration files, unless the driver is hard coded for one codec) - you will be expected to show your attempted configuration;

  • what you mean by “work in”. Where Asterisk has to use a codec for internal purposes, e.g. none generation, or mixing audio, it always uses SLIN. Voice announcements start from the best available recording format, so you can include A-law encoded ones.
