General Greenfield VoIP

I first postet following in a german Community (will translate correctly later):

Hallo,

Szenaria 1:

  • Nummer xxx-extern ruft an und es klingeln selectierte IP-Telefone in Standort A+B.

Szenaria 2:

Hello,

We are just about to modernize our Internet connection and also the S0-module of our Hipath 3550 smoked, so I now sell everything in the bay and want to start with VoIP.

But I miss a lot of keywords to enrich my knowledge in this world.
I hope I can introduce my ideas to you and get from you some sources that I can / should take to heart, so that the basics for decent future questions are given.

My dream concept:

  • There are 10 “interesting” telephone numbers at the Telekom in one location A.
  • This site A is to conclude a contract with SIP gateway for all x numbers.
  • Two further locations B and C should also be accessible with the numbers x and of course “internally”.
  • IP hardware should be purchased with video.
  • The Asterisk is to run at A on a Raspery.
  • Location A + B + C have a professional router with enough VPN channels.
  • Location A + B + C are COMPLETE (each room 2-4 ports) Gigabit PoE networked and on top also with WLAN and a continuous SSID.
  • GN-Netcom’s existing DECT headset should be connected to one of the stationary devices.

Scenario 1:

  • Number xxx-external calls and the selected IP phones in location A + B ring.

Scenario 2:

  • Number xxx-external calls and it rings only at A, after 30sec not at A but at B, after another 60sec of the answering machine on the Asterisk ran.

Scenario 3:

  • IP telephone at location A + B + C dial a stored number from the common phonebook.

Scenario 4:

  • IP telephone at location A + B + C dial any number and store this number in the shared phonebook.

Scenario 5:

  • A mobile phone in the WLAN of A + B + C edited the common phone book.

==== So far, I’m almost sure that the same functions are possible somewhere ===

Scenaria 6:

  • A cell phone in the WLAN syncs with the common phone book but can only read and not write.

Scenario 7:

  • It can be a white and / or blacklist ON the pbx be led, which also block “Unknown” on the AB forward.

Scenario 8:

  • An IP video call is received with the DECT headset and the video can be transferred to the TV screen in the living room using a mobile phone command.

Scenario 9:
Actuators, such as a bell, are evaluated via IO-Broker and a voice connection to the door intercom system is triggered.

Scenario 9a:
The door intercom itself is a SIP device and a video call is made.

Scenario 9b:
Like 9a, however, a short audio / video sequence is output at the door.

Scenario 9c:
As in 9a, however, a short audio / video sequence is placed on a home server. (Bad experiences with storage contracts say hello;)

Scenario 10:
A mobile phone located in the WLAN also calls via SIP intern instead of via the provider.

Now for the questions:

  • Which codecs / protocols should I look for that should support my hardware for these scenarios?
  • Which interfaces already exist between IO-Broker and Co to Asterisk?
  • What needs to be taken into account when placing emphasis on video and voice quality between A + B + C?
  • Which hardware manufacturers have turned out to be the most “incompatible” in the past?
  • How do the protocols under SIP react if a WLAN handover does not work?
  • Is a fallback possible with a downed Asterisk in (at least one) IP telephone? (Or can this be done by the router?)

Greetings Oekel

I think you really need to find a consultant for this.

I don’t use video but I’d recommend speex and g722 for wideband codecs.

What is an IO-Broker?

QOS and traffic shaping.

There are so many manufacturers out there selling hardware it’d be impossible to pick the worst one.

There is no special magic in SIP to handle WIFI handoff.

Yes.
