Eyebeam 1.5 official version (not free version). See the link: xten.com/index.php?menu=Prod … nu=compare
can it be installed in linux with g729 support
since when has EyeBeam been available for *nix ? xten.com/index.php?menu=Prod … nu=eyeBeam
voip-info.org/wiki/index.php … OIP+Phones gives you more options, although you’ll find that because adding G729 support to an application would normally require the developers to pay a licence fee, it’s not coming your way for free.
have you considered alternatives ? GSM codec perhaps ?
hi
I don’t see any download for eyebeam 1.5 paid version for linux OS. We can’t use GSM in india , bcs most of the service providers support only g729 codec. is there any other phone with g729 for linux os?
did you even try the link ? voip-info.org/wiki/index.php … OIP+Phones
Sorry, I did not quite understand your question or perhaps overlooked some details. Eyebeam does not support Linux but its the x-lite free that does.
but there’s no v3.0 for *nix … and it’s a great improvement over the 2.0 release.
still I could n’t find one for linux
if the softphone is connecting to an Asterisk box is codec translation an option ?
From iax to G729 translation will take more cpu power? can this be deployed in large scale? somehow I have doubts in conversion since i feel there should be delay / qulaity issue in the voice.
Thanks

sure, any translation is going to cost you. if you can’t find a softphone on linux that supports g729 then you need to explore other options. if translation isn’t one you want to consider, maybe contacting the developer of a softphone you like and seeing if they can add g729 as a paid option.
