Emoji in subject line of voicemail notification

I’m trying to add an emoji to the email sent from Asterisk when a voicemail arrives.

In voicemail.conf:

emailsubject=\=?UTF-8?Q?e2=9c=85?= [PBX]: New message ${VM_MSGNUM}

The result is the following subject line in the email:

Subject: ?UTF-8?Q?e2=9c=85?= [PBX]: New message

I’ve tried escaping all special characters.

No better luck uncommenting the default emailsubject in the voicemail.conf file.
