(does /var/run/asterisk.ctl exist?) and Segmentation fault

1.There is not asterisk.ctl.

[root@asterisk ~]# asterisk -rx 'database put cidname 0123456710 “Suzuki Ichiro”'
Unable to connect to remote asterisk (does /var/run/asterisk.ctl exist?)
[root@asterisk ~]#
[root@asterisk ~]# cd /var/run/
[root@asterisk run]# ls

2.Segmentation fault
[root@asterisk run]# asterisk -vc

There are many errors and warnings.
At last Segmentation fault is apeared.

I installed it on CentOS 6 and made the settings
referring to the famous Japanese site.
This site is in Japanese, but I set this by typing this command.
What is worrisome is that CentOS 6 32bit and the performance of
the computer is not very good. Celeron and 4 GB memory.

  1. Asterisk is not running, or has been run in a way where it does not have permission to write to /var/run.

This could be result of the segmentation fault.

Note this will happen regardless of the x and the CLI command as the check for /var/run/… have to be made before the command can even be forwarded to the running copy of Asterisk.

  1. The errors and warnings are likely to be important. Please use the logs from /var/log/asterisk, not what appears on the screen. If these don’t exist, it would be another indication that Asterisk doesn’t have enough privilege.

Which version of Asterisk are you using? Is it the latest version in a supported branch?

If so please follow the procedures in https://wiki.asterisk.org/wiki/display/AST/Getting+a+Backtrace to get a backtrace. If not, please upgrade.

One other thing. Whilst I can’t read the Kana text in your first Japanese page, I assume that 前提 means pre-requisites. It seems to refer to zaptel, but zaptesl was replace by dahdi about five years ago.
