DNS problem in Asterisk box

Hi guys;

when i try to PING something like
<this.ipaddress.com> got the following message;

ping: unknown host this.ipaddress.com

when i define the SIP trunk i gor to go by the ip address and not by the DNS,somethng like;

host= 1.2.3.4 instead of host=this.ipaddress.com

How do i solve this problem?

Check to make sure you have a valid nameserver listed in your /etc/resolv.conf file.
