Comparing wav files

Hello,

I was lately thinking about a method with which I could automate SIP calls validation between two devices, one device is able to play a wav file while the other (Asterisk, for instance) being able to record the media it receives in another file.

Have you any successful experience with tools able to compare two wav files and tell if both are similar or not (I suppose bit comparison is inappropriate as VoIP surely distords audio and an offset between the start of sound within each file would be difficult to avoid) ?

Searching the web, I’ve found several instances of such software but guidance would be much appreciated.

Regards

VoIP shouldn’t further distort data in digital form, unless you transcode.
