Clients not registering

I’m using SUSE 11.1, asterisk 1.4, x-lite 3.0

I keep getting 403 errors. Even if I enter a valid but not the asterisk servers ip, I get 403 errors.

I would say that I have a port not open.

from netstat -tulpn I see asterisk has port 5060 but it doesn’t look like its listening.

I tried telneting to :5060 and is says could not open connection to host.

guesses?
Thanks
Nick

The telnet to port 5060 isn’t going to show you anything - I get “connection refused” on all of my servers, which are working fine. :smile:

In Asterisk, have you enabled SIP debugging, and if so, are you seeing any SIP traffic at all?

As for the system side of things, I’m dealing mostly with Redhat, but it installs iptables by default, which WILL stop phones from registering to the server. Make sure iptables isn’t running on your server.

Can you post your general section of sip.conf ?

Thanks,
Agni.

telnet == TCP
astersk SIP == UDP

definitely not going to work.

I don’t see iptables running - besides if that was the issue I would think that the management port or the web server would also not be listening.

No, I don’t see any logging info to the CLI atleast. I’m trying to figure out how to see more. I have “sip set debug” and started in safe mode and tried -vvv

It seems that the asterisk box is not responding. I connected my sniffer and a very minimul network ( just these machines on 1 switch - pinging works ) I don’t see any return packets

Nick

Try to set nat = yes and run.

Thanks,
Agni

no luck.

I still can’t get any debug info to the screen.

it was the firewall ( I don’t think iptables ? ) It had some sort of GUI to it. I got it stopped and things are working.

I see debugging info now.

Thanks
Nick
