Can't connect SIP phone to Asterisk

Hi,

This is what i have done.

  1. Installed a fresh copy of CentOS 5.5 (final)

  2. yum -y upgrade

  3. service iptables stop

  4. chkconfig iptables off

  5. Setup repos in /etc/yum.repos.d according to asterisk.org/applications/gateway

  6. yum install asterisk16 asterisk16-configs asterisk16-voicemail dahdi-linux dahdi-tools libpri

  7. chkconfig asterisk on

  8. service asterisk start

  9. asterisk -r

  • Returns: Connected to Asterisk 1.6.2.16.1 currently running on asterisk (pid = 2243)
  1. yum install httpd

  2. Setup the following users in /etc/asterisk/sip.conf

[code][magne]
type=friend
username=magne
secret=xxxxx
host=dynamic
context=test

[kristine]
type=friend
username=kristine
secret=xxxxx
host=dynamic
context=test[/code]

  1. Setup the following exten in /etc/asterisk/extensions.conf

[test] exten => 1234,1,Dial(SIP/magne) exten => 4321,1,Dial(SIP/kristine)

  1. asterisk -r

  • And in CLI> reload

Now, when i try to connect a SIP phone (express talk) using username: magne, password: xxxxx, host: i get a message in the SIP phone saying: Server did not respond to register user (sip:magne@)

When i do # tail -f /var/log/asterisk/full i get this:

What am i doing wrong here?

Try again if the firewall is down.

Secondly do a “sip set debug on” in the Asterisk CLI and check the SIP messages that are comming to / going from the Asterisk server (also post them here if you won’t find the problem).

Hi dejanst,

The firewall on the server was off, but i forgot to enable SIP ALG on my home network. So problem solved :smile: Thanks!
