I’ve inherited an Asterisk phone system for our customer services department which has been configured using AEL rather than the seemingly more common dialplan.
Is it possible to convert an AEL configuration to a dialplan? Would there be any advantages or disadvantages to doing so? How would I go about doing this? Is there a handy document showing the equivalents in both configuration methods?
We’re using XMPP (Jabber) integration, if that’s an issue. Our support agents use their instant messaging client to indicate their availability to take calls.
