20 seconds is quite short.

Typically, on analogue lines, there is no called party clearing. This is done so that one phone can be put down and another one picked up without losing the incoming call. As a fallback, the network will eventually clear the call anyway, but this is morel likely to be a few minutes than just 20 seconds.

According to section 7.1.2 of SIN 350, BT, in the UK use two to three minutes.

However, it isn’t clear that you are describing this scenario.

hi david ,

i note that sometimes the line is cleared , but sometimes the line still busy and may still upto serveral days !!!

could i change any thing of this time from my side ?? or it is pstn issue ??

regards

If you have a called party clearing issue, the timeout is controlled by the PSTN provider.

sorry for asking that ,

is it possible to reduce the time of auto hangingup from 20 to something samller ??

If you have a called party clearing issue, the timeout is controlled by the network operator.

I’m not completely sure that you do have one, but you will need to provide detailed tracing to clarify.
