I have an AASTRA 9113i and a Hitachi Wip 5000. Is it possible to display the name of the party i’m calling on the phone?
i think you’ll need to use the phones internal phonebook to do this, and thus have the restrictions of it’s size.
i’ve used the Aastra, but not the Hitachi, so the following only applies to the 9112i (it also relies on you having access to a db of call recipients) :
you could use the XML application functionality to provide an interface to the database, i’ve not used it, but it might leave the text on the display when you call.
you could modify the dialplan to lookup the called number in the db (or somewhere else) and send the phone a SIP message with the name (i like this one, might have to try it myself).
