Asterisk is pretty performant, and it depends on what you are doing.
Much MOH and codeconversion and echocancelling is using more CPU then a standard ZAP call.
You can handle 100 simultan calls on a standard 3.5 GHz machine, you can also handle 800 calls on a 3GHz machine.
It depends what you are doing.

wow about the 100 calls on a 3.5ghz machine… i had no idea how efficient it was… would that be using an interface card like ZAP, through to IP phones? not sure if that has an affect on system load
