Asterisk rpm installation

hi, i am trying to install asterisk-1.2.13-1.fc5.rf.i386 it keeps on giving me the following error:
Unable to retrieve software information.
i tried installing using root as well as administrator.
I am using fedore 5 (complete installation of OS)

I am using install software to install asterisk-1.2.13-1.fc5.rf.i386 by double clicking on file located in my desktop.
i also triied using command line but it seems commands provided for installation of rpm has some options
rpm -i asterisk-1.2.13-1.fc5.rf.i386.rpm
Please guide me how to install asterisk-1.2.13-1.fc5.rf.i386

If you are starting from scratch, please don’t install that version. If you find any bugs you will just be told to upgrade to 1.4.23.1 or 1.6.0.6.

By far the easiest way to install Asterisk is to compile it on site.

Also you should not run Asterisk on any computer that has a X windows GUI running on it (it shouldnt even be installed). While technically Asterisk will run - call quality suffers geatly to the piont of unuseable.
