Asterisk & legacy pbx

Hi all…
I’m facing a new scenario and i would like to have an opinion to choose the right choice…
New customer…an Hotel…legacy pbx with 1 or 2 ISDN BRI trunks…i don’t know why he decided to change telcom operator, so he no more has ISDN trunks but 1 or 2 pstn line…
Now the legacy lacks in-outbound trunk…
I don’t think he would like to change everything…so…i’m asking:

  1. I heard about ISDN cross cable…is it a valid solution to get connectivity back to the legacy pbx using an asterisk box with isdn cards as a gateway ?
  2. is there an router / gateway that converts voip to isdn and viceversa ?
  3. is much better to change everything ?
    Thanks…
  1. Yes, probably.
  2. Asterisk
  3. I don’t know. Start small, maybe a demo phone, that boasts more features. Look at your power users – like the front desk staff – and see how they use the phones. Mabye you could make wake-up calls easier for them to handle ?
