Asterisk: is possible to simulate the old good pstn "group"?

Pstn has gone from my house since 4-5 years. In the old times, when a call arrive we had two phones in my house, one phone take the call, but if another one take the second phone he can talk, the two phones act as one.
Any suggestion to simulate something similar on asterisk?

That’s a characteristic of analogue phones, not the PSTN. Asterisk supports the use of analogue phones. You can parallel connect analogue phones to a DAHDI compatible PCI or PCIe card, or you can do so using an ATA.

Doing it with SIP phones is more difficult, as you will need to set up an explicit conference bridge. The part that is probably most difficult is just picking up the second phone; you will have to dial something on it, unless it is only ever used for incoming calls, in which case it may have a hotline feature.

The PSTN include ISDN, which has the same limitations as SIP, as it is digital.

How about the conference feature?

I understand, for example with stuff like this one?

This is for BT (British Telecom) but I think is available something also for other standards

Yes, they are also for RJ11…

All these do is connect corresponding contacts on the connectors together. That works for analogue, but not for digital. Standard domestic extension wiring also connects all the sockets together, in the same way.

(One of the assumptions that is being made in forcing everyone over to VoIP is that people use cordless phones, plugged into one socket, only.)
