Asterisk CLI basic question

I downloaded and setup the Asterisk@home version for asterisk. When running the Asterisk CLI ‘show version’ it does not give me the version af asterisk. Any other way to tell Asterisk version?

It’s strange that it doesn’t give you the version!

The version i’m running (1.2) tells you what version it is when it starts up with the -r option, to attach a console to the running daemon - i.e.,

asterisk -r

I don’t remember if earlier versions did that or not.
