Hi, Simple question: Does anyone know of a G.729ab codec (i.e., with silence suppression) that has been integrated with Asterisk? Note that I am not asking whether there is one that is distributed with Asterisk; I know that answer is no. And I realize that if there is one that it likely will require a license.
On bcg729’s authors own words:
Bcg729 is an opensource implementation of both encoder and decoder of the ITU G729 Annex A/B speech codec.
Under FreeBSD there is a port called asterisk-g72x (which uses Bcg729) that is perfectly integrated with Asterisk.
I use and recommend it.
Thanks jcpierri. I will certainly investigate it.
