app_mplayer dead air issue

When using the app_mplayer source to call mp3_exec to play an audio file I am running into an issue with dead air Immediately after the mp3 file is played there is an addition two seconds of dead air. I have gone through the source code trying to find what is causing this but can’t figure out what the running program would be doing to hang or wait for an addition 2 seconds.

Ideas?
