Any restrictions connecting Asterisk to a SIP trunk in Oman?

Hi everyone,

We’re planning to connect Asterisk to a SIP trunk provided by Omantel (a licensed phone operator in Oman). This will be used together with Bitrix24’s “Cloud SIP PBX” feature.

Has anyone here worked with SIP trunks from Oman or the Middle East region in general? We just want to make sure there’s nothing that would block the connection or cause issues — technical or otherwise.

Any experience or advice would be really helpful. Thank you!

I’ve worked with SIP trunks from Etisalat UAE. AFAIK, telecom providers only provide an on-prem SIP trunk (often using AudioCodes SBC). Asides making sure how the trunk lands, I don’t expect you’d have any issues connecting it to Asterisk

We had a partner that had SIP servicce in the UAE. SIP was delivered via a dedicated fiber line. They tried to send the calls out of the UAE via SIP and had all sorts of issues with it. The only way to do it was to VPN out of the country to an Asterisk box in another country and then send the calls from there.

I can confirm this. In my case, I had a dual-homed, on-prem Asterisk box talking to the on-prem SBC on the LAN and over Wireguard connected to a Dubai Azure VoIP server and from there to “wherever”.

Thank you very much

Thank you very much

Snezhana, we can provide a real local Oman line with inbound and outbound calling, compatible with Asterisk and Bitrix24. Fast activation and testing are available—feel free to contact me if you’re interested.

I don’t mean to thread hijack but do you offer service in another EMEA countries?
