Accessibility (for people with disabilities)

I’d like to start a group that looks at Asterisk as an accessibility resource, so I’m looking for other interested 'riskers.

There are many ways that conventional telephony systems either ignore or disadvantage some users, especially those with hearing, vision, or dexterity impairments. Asterisk may be able to resolve some of these problems, often by providing an alternate form for input and output, as specified by individual users. For example, a blind user could receive CallerID info by speech, and a deaf user could have all incoming voice calls routed to a relay service.

I am working with several disabled consumer organizations on a funded program to pursue this idea.

Please contact me if you’re interested, or if you have any pointers. Thanks in advance.
